The Arizona Republic is a daily newspaper. It is published in Phoenix, Arizona. The Arizona Republic was founded in 1890 originally as The Arizona Republican. The Arizona Republic is the largest newspaper in the state. In 2000 the newspaper was purchased by the Gannet newspaper chain. Several Arizona's most famous writers work for the Arizona Republic, among them: sport writer Norm Frauenheim, Pulitzer Prize winner Steve Benson, columnist E.J.Montini. The Arizona Republic produces different special reports on population growth and other disputable problems such as illegal immigration.
